TYRO (studios) is a gorgeous studio space hosting a range of creative workshops. Our workshops include, but are not limited to watercolour painting, hand-building pottery, macramé, jesmonite casting, calligraphy and so much more.

Our workshops and events are fully inclusive; expert tuition, all your materials and tools and refreshments; tea, coffee, still and sparkling water and chocolate. Our workshops run for 2 hours and where applicable, you take home whatever you make or the tools to keep practising at home.

Our space is available for private use for groups looking to add a creative activity to their day of celebrations!

Our celebration package is all inclusive; 

• Private hire of our studio for 2 hours, or we can come to your location

• A creative workshop of your choice - pottery, flower arranging, calligraphy

• Free flow sparkling amie wine for the 2 hour duration 

• Balloons (colours of your choice) to decorate the studio or your chosen venue

What do you do within your business to make it more accessible and inclusive?

We offer one package for our brides-to-be that includes private hire of our space (decorated to match their theme colours), a creative workshop of their choice (plenty to choose from), balloons (colours of their choice), unlimited drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and a vegan cake (to ensure that we cover everyone's needs). The package, though singular in nature, can be amended to suit the personality or theme for each bride-to-be.

Best live concert you've ever attended? 

On our honeymoon in the Reims, the Champagne region, my husband and I stumbled across an open air amphitheatre performance. We had just grabbed ourselves a little picnic of bread, cheese and wine and were looking for somewhere to sit and enjoy it. The performers were a range of local french artists and though we couldn't understand anything they were saying/singing, the vibes were absolutely stunning. There were kids running around and families picnicking and there was an ice cream trolley dishing out some gorgeous tubs of icecream. The weather was glorious and it was just such a dreamy evening.

What is a defining moment for you within your business?

Opening, after 3 years of dreaming and planning and almost not doing it, because I considered moving back home, I was so relieved to have taken the Pinterest board and brought it to reality. I think we often bypass the beauty of actually bringing the dream to reality. We are so quick to move onto the next thing. As a small business the all consuming nature of staying open and profitable can often take away the joy of what an achievement it was that you took an idea from your head and brought it into a reality - how cool is that? SO many people take, but you actually put your money where your mouth is, and that is a defining moment worth celebrating.
