Hi - my name is Tanisha (she/her) - nice to meet you! I am an independent celebrant and I pride myself on creating ceremonies that are inclusive and celebrate everything that makes you - you. Each ceremony I create is unique, full of heart and has lots of feel good factor. If you are looking for someone who brings vibrance, warmth, humour and a hint of silly then I’m your girl! I really love getting to know people, hearing their stories, and crafting ceremonies that reflect the intricacies of being in a relationship and fully embrace all the elements that make you who you are.

I am a mental health nurse and therapist by background and now I teach mental health nursing. My time as a nurse has taught me that you never know what’s around the corner, so if the opportunity to lean into joy is presented to you - then lean in! This is something I bring to all my ceremonies: a desire to get to the heart of who you are and what you are about and to reflect that on your day! There are no rules, we get to right our own and to create our own traditions, include symbolic or ritualistic elements, include religion or have no mention of it at all, do a sing - a - long, write your own vows. The sky is the limit!

What makes you an alternative wedding supplier? 

I'm super passionate about creating ceremonies that embrace new traditions, throw out patriarchal norms and empower you to have your day, your way - feels like this shouldn't be alternative in this day and age - but it is! The reason I got into celebrancy was because my wife and I were planning our wedding and looking for a celebrant who could do something a bit different but most importantly, we wanted someone who represented us. We were looking for someone who was queer, a woman and a person of colour. Ultimately, someone who could understand the journey we had been on and hold the complications but also fully bring out the joy and ramp up on the colourful parts of our story. That person was very hard to find and so Lovestruck celebrant was born. I hold various identities and they influence my experience of the world; there are a lot of us in the same boat but the wedding industry doesn't seem to reflect all of us and it really should! All in all, I want people to feel that they belong and that their day is their own. I am so excited to support couples to have the best day possible!

What is your favourite fun fact?

Earthworms have taste buds all over their body! How cool is that?!

What is a defining moment for you within your business?

I have met so many couples that have told me that they feel safe in my company and are so excited for their day - the feedback makes my heart sing! Makes me so happy to know that I am making a difference in the lead up to their special day.
