Hey alt music lovers!
I’m Cara, otherwise known as Rave the Date – a quirky and alternative DJ based in Leeds, bringing your most loved tunes to your dancefloor. I work closely with my couples to put personalised tracklists full of total bangers together, and adore discovering new music from my couples too. I specialise in playing varied and exciting sets that blend genres together to get the energy up to maximum on your dancefloor, so if you want to get your guests moshing, skanking and raving then I’d love to hear from you.

What makes you an alternative wedding supplier?Â
I have been to my fair share of weddings, and it didn't take me long to notice the same mainstream songs being played night after night. This has always made me long for receptions with a bit of personality! When I started DJing, my first weddings were for friends who felt exactly the same about tired old wedding playlists as me, and shared my love for alternative music. I would definitely describe my taste as wide-ranging, which I think makes me an ideal alternative supplier - I have the expansive knowledge of alt music and absolutely love playing it, so you will see me bopping and singing along as much as the guests! I can also appreciate the diverse requirements of a wedding party, and read the room to make sure everyone is tempted to get up and do their thing on the dancefloor - there's something in alternative music for everyone.

What is a defining moment for you within your business?
I'm proudest of the lovely things my couples write about me after their big days - in the words of one of my brides: "Rave the Date is an absolute babe who had me dancing til 1am (this is a big deal I am a very sleepy lady usually)". I don't think it gets better than that!

If you could eat 1 meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
How could I possibly choose one meal?! Living in West Yorkshire I think I'd have to say curry, because they are incredible around this neck of the woods. It would have to be a Karahi or possibly a super spicy Madras, with tons of lime pickle on the side.
