Singer and guitarist Sam Jayne is a wedding musician with a difference.

Having grown up immersed in the timeless sounds of Led Zeppelin, The Who, The VelvetUnderground, Stevie Nicks, KISS, AC/DC and more, Sam is best known for her signatureability to transform classic and modern guitar anthems into pared-down acoustic bops.

She loves nothing more than putting her own folky spin on old-school bangers andmaking audience members double-take at her creative arrangements of heavy tracks. Her repertoire is hugely diverse, covering everything from Iron Maiden to Green Day to Taylor Swift, perfect for the alternative couple who love an eclectic playlist, but are true Rock ’N’ Rollers at heart. 

As a performer, her decade and a half of gigging experience have seen her perform at everything from mystical castle ruins to forests, chic city hotels to grand country estates, rustic converted barns to vibrant mini-festivals. Her priority is you, and making sure you get to belt along to every song you love on your big day.

What makes you an alternative wedding supplier? 

As an individual, I've always marched to the beat of my own drum, and I proudly incorporate this across every aspect of my weddings business, from my setlist to my branding. Picture me, aged 15 wearing bright red lipstick, a Mighty Boosh t-shirt, bright blue hair, listening to Led Zeppelin, MCR, Rush and Green Day on my Skullcandy headphones, and you might get a sense of where my love for Alternative music began. I've carried this love with me throughout my career as a musician, eventually learning to fuse my naturally Folky performance style with the songs that moulded me into the musician I am today. I've played all sorts of weddings in my 7 years as a pro-musician, but I've discovered such a passion for alternative weddings, and I love being part of the movement of people throwing tradition out of the window and doing things their way. There's something quite magical about singing for the celebrations of people who might have had the same bands playing in their headphones aged 15, who also march to the beat of their own drum, bold and unapologetic. 

What is a defining moment for you within your business?

I recently booked my 30th wedding of the year, which was a huge milestone for me. At the start of 2024, my goal was 20, which at the time felt like a really far-fetched notion. And here we are! The concept that 30 amazing couples have invited me to be part of the biggest day of their entire lives is just the most humbling and mind-blowing thing to me. It's really not something I take lightly, and I'm grateful every day for the trust placed in me by my couples.
