THEIR DEETS

What makes you an alternative wedding supplier?

It's true that I prefer to wear, design & make in an alternative aesthetic, but it goes a little further than that for me. As a disabled, queer & trans person who is mixed race, I've always existed on the fringes of the mainstream and know how important it is to find communities & environments that not only tolerate me but celebrate me - and I strive to be that safe place for other people. Is my jewellery witchy, gothic, folkloric and unusual? Yes! Do I go the extra mile to ensure that I only use vegan products, tools and sustainably/responsibly sourced materials? Also yes! But ultimately I think what makes me an alternative wedding supplier is how sacred I feel alternative communities are and how much I want to create a beautiful experience for the people in my communities when I make their wedding jewellery.

What do you do within your business to make it more accessible and inclusive?

Whist I recognise that, as a society, we tend to label chunkier jewellery as "masculine" and daintier pieces as "feminine" I just can't bring myself to categorise my jewellery into "Mens" and "Womens" sections. Not only does it exclude people who fall outside of the binary but I firmly believe that jewellery doesn't have a gender and that you shouldn't have to restrict yourself based on whats in your pants! You're free to wear whatever you like and I'll always support and defend your right to do that. In terms of including accessibility in my design, I offer magnetic clasps on chains for people who have or limited dexterity and I'll always consider diversity in bespoke designs such as reduced or added texture for people who either can't tolerate or prefer more sensory input. If you need a different type of hook, fastener or similar just let me know and I'll make it happen without a fuss.

If you could eat 1 meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Is tiramisu a meal??

Wilde Folk Jewellery is a luxury fine jewellery brand inspired by nature, folklore & mysticism. From the whimsical to the macabre, I want to make your beautiful & sentimental pieces that last a lifetime.

I call this a “brand” but really it’s just a one-person-show run by me, Riley (and my husband, Liam when I’m at markets!) and I think this helps me to provide an extra personal service because no detail gets lost by speaking to multiple people. It’s just me, you, and your jewellery.

Sustainability, ethics & liberation are at the heart of Wilde Folk Jewellery so I’m dedicated to using responsibly sourced gemstones & recycled precious metals – often recycling them in-house.

My personal identities spread across multiple communities as a disabled, queer & trans person so I love to make engagement and wedding jewellery for all types of people & couples alike. We don’t often see people like us represented in the wedding or jewellery industry and I want to help change that.

Whilst I’m based in Nottingham, I cover all of England, Scotland & Wales.

Jewellery, rings, all of uk, neurodivergent owned, LGBTQ+Owned, disabled owned
