We found out all about Rachael's time at Download Festival, creating beautiful, bespoke ceremonies for nearly-weds, here is what she has to say:
Download this year was truly a dream come true! I officiated 4 ceremonies across the weekend, including a surprise vow renewal. The couples chose the location and time of their ceremony, some opting for the main stage as a backdrop for their celebration. The atmosphere, dopamine hit from the cheering crowds, and of course the bands providing the backdrop made it truly unforgettable.
All newlyweds chose a hand-tying ceremony with handmade cords. One particular couple who are practising witches incorporated a spell jar into their cords. Rounding things off, some of the newlyweds sealed the deal with shots of Fireball, beer and Southern Comfort. They were all absolute rockstars!!
I can't wait to do it all again next year!
An intro to what Electric Joy Ceremonies offers at Download
In the heart of the action at Download, nearly-weds can have a once-in-a-lifetime ceremony at a time and location of their choosing at the festival. This can be anything from a wedding ceremony to a vow renewal, and even a naming ceremony or name-affirming ceremony. Whatever you want to celebrate, let's do it!
Included is a totally bespoke ceremony script which is forged from the story of each individual, couple or throuple and delivered on the hallowed ground that is Download. I spend months getting to know each of my nearly weds, including planning meetings, ceremony ritual exploration, and support with vow writing. So when it came to their special celebration at Download, I felt like I was marrying friends in a place that was special to each of them. It was a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience.
The newlyweds also had the opportunity to add on content capture with my sister's business, Electric Joy Moments, with my hubby at the helm, capturing their special celebration. This included a highlight reel of their ceremony and a gallery of raw images and footage.
So not only can they have their ceremony, they can relive the moment with content from their special celebration. It doesn't get much better than that :)

How did you get into doing it + is this something you offer yearly?
I've officiated many a festival-themed wedding, but never in the heart of a music festival itself. This has always been on my celebrant bucket list - until now! I finally took the plunge this year, and I've already booked my 2027 tickets, ready to marry some incredible soon-to-be weds back in the rock action.
