Every wedding is truly unique and full of joy, especially when it’s a celebration of love done your way.

At The Alt Wedding Fair Directory, we know that alternative couples aren’t afraid to rip up the rulebook and create a wedding day that reflects their personalities, quirks, and style. From colourful wedding dresses and tattooed brides to gothic wedding cakes and eco-friendly festival vibes, no two celebrations are ever the same.

As wedding suppliers, we’re lucky enough to witness not only the heartfelt moments but also the hilarious, unexpected, and joy-filled stories that make each alternative wedding so memorable. We reached out to our Alt Wedding Directory suppliers to share their funniest and most heart-warming wedding memories.

If you’re planning a non-traditional wedding and want suppliers who truly get your vibes, these stories will not only make you smile, but also give you a glimpse into the wonderful world of alternative wedding suppliers who can help bring your day to life.

MichaelMulhollandAcoustic performed a fantastic set for C+C’s wedding reception and the crowd were egging him on to play ‘Tribute’ by Tenacious D. He asked if any of the guests knew the words and what transpired was the most gloriously mind-blowing rendition of the song by the couple’s guest Deano backed up by Michael. The guests went wild and the atmosphere was truly electric.

What a moment!!

The silliest moments would be holding up a picture of Beppe Di Marco as part of a couple's love story OR presenting a couple with a packet of Weetabix and a wedge of Taleggio cheese at the end of a ceremony, as it linked in with their vows

My silliest moment would be jumping out, arms flailing, from behind the decks while bridesmaiding and DJing for my best pal, to join in our infamous Wuthering Heights ethereal ghost on the moors-style dance with vigor. Video available on request...

I was once asked to interrupt a ceremony (arranged by the bride as a surprise for the groom) with a song that was special to both of them. It was a gorgeous outdoor ceremony, totally unplugged - cut to me hiding in a bush with my guitar, ready to burst in with a rendition of ’True Love’ by Pink right when the celebrant asked if anyone had any objections… I think there was a bridesmaid or two who were prepared to rugby tackle me to the ground, but once everyone realised what was going on, they were singing and dancing and joining in, and it was a really beautiful moment.

Recently, I sang at a wedding on May the 4th, where the couple had hired the Essex Troopers to surprise their guests. As everyone left the ceremony, the troopers were stood handing out confetti, which put smiles on everyone’s faces. They even had a registrar who said ‘‘May the 4th be with you!” to close the ceremony.

We recently rocked up to a wedding where we didn't know much about the couple as we stood in as the original band couldn't do it. They were set on what they wanted us to play, so we were a bit worried that we wouldn't fit the bill for what they're used to.

We get there, set up, and it starts pissing it down with rain. The roof is leaking, all our instruments are getting wet - we start to freak out. We go have lunch and are like 'it is what it is, we'll just get through it'.

We came back, and the party had started then. We see the bride, and she runs up to us. She's covered in tattoos, all the guests are tattooed, emo baddies, and we breathed a huge sigh of relief and were like 'OH! we are here for the right people!'

We ended up having the best gig ever; the rain stopped, everyone was dancing & everyone was loving it. We had everyone from the little kids to the grandparents vibing out to the playlist we chose, and we could not be happier with the playlist we chose.

It was one of those moments where we thought we might not fit the bill, but it turned out to be one of the best gigs we've done!
